About the Hall
Ropley Parish Hall is a community hall located adjacent to the recreation ground in the centre of the village of Ropley, Hampshire. The village itself is located midway between Alton and Winchester.
The hall is owned by Ropley Parish Council but its day to day operation and management is taken care of by a registered charity (No 301934). The trustees are drawn from regular hall users and village representatives who exercise oversight of the hall via a small management committee. The hall is well used by various local clubs and societies. It is also available to hire by individuals for birthday parties or other special events and for sporting/exercise groups such as Yoga, Keep Fit and Dance classes.
To find out how to hire please see the ‘How to Book‘ page
The accommodation comprises 2 halls (large & small) plus a shared kitchen, associated storage areas and toilet facilities. The large and small halls can be hired individually or together.
The premises are licensed by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC). The total number of people allowed on the premises is 200 (standing) but the seating limit is 120. In practice you can sit 100 people comfortably in the large hall in theatre layout somewhat less if people are sat round tables for a quiz or to eat a meal.
The licence also allows for staging of theatre productions, the showing of films or the provision of music. The management committee additionally holds a Performing Rights Society licence so that music can be played.
The management committee also hold a licence that allows the sale of alcohol on the premises. At the management committee’s discretion this can be made available for individual hires – but this is not automatic and has to be requested at the time of booking.
The large hall has a sprung dance floor with a stage at one end. There is a serving hatch that opens to the kitchen. Tables and chairs are available and provided fire exits are kept clear these can be laid out to suit your event.
The large hall is equipped with a public address and hearing loop system that can be made available to hirers upon request.
The small hall is suitable for ‘stand alone’ use for low key events such as children’s groups and meetings. It is often hired alongside the large hall to provide a separate bar area. EHDC hire it to provide a polling station at local and national elections. Tables and chairs are available and you can set these up to suit your event.
The kitchen is shared between the 2 halls. It is equipped with a Lincat water boiler, range cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer. Cutlery, plates, cups and saucers are also available.
The hall is surrounded by a large car park, should this become full overflow parking is available up a single file track at the rear of the hall past the sports pavilion. Please note that the hall does not own or manage the car parks – they are the responsibility of Ropley Parish Council.
